Just a few pictures from the area of Amsterdam where I live. 

Amsterdam is officially 750 years old. That is to say: 750 Years ago the inhabitants got the right to pay taxes, although 'Amstelredamme' as it was previously called had been around for some 200 years. And old buildings make way for new ones:

This communal garden used to be a street until the fifties. The appartment buildings were built around the same time that Calamity Jane (Martha Canary) lived her last adventures in the Wild West: 1892. Families lived on 20 square meters and shared a toilet with their neighbours. To shower people went to the local bathhouse. There used to be one some 50 meters from where I took this photo.

I regularly pass the bridge from where I took this shot:

The streets around my block got new sewage pipes, glass fibre and electricity lines just a few years ago. They also gave the tree roots more space so they wouldn't cause cracks in the pavement or in the houses' foundation anymore.

With everyting goin on in the world these days, it was hard not to write a poem about how I feel about all that suffering:

The bomb explodes (a #poem)

A life with no cravings 

and nothing to look forward to.

Nothing gives pleasure 

and all food is tasteless.

As if waking up 

from a dream 

right before 

the bomb explodes
