August 12th was the first time in 27 years we could witness a solar eclipse over The Netherlands so of course me and a group of neighbours went to the nearest open spot to witness the event.
Very interesting to see the light and shadows change
and to hear the birds go quiet
Some experienced the event from the water
and others from the rooftops
To see the next one over Amsterdam we have to wait until 2081. Luckily there's a solar eclipse around every 18 months to be witnessed from different places in the world.

What's your best memory of a solar eclipse?

Was a bit short on inpiration lately, but the eclipse provided some.
The Day the Sun disappeared (a #CirclePoem)
The day the Sun disappeared
the birds went quiet
and a cold breeze
cut through Summer
like bad news cuts through a soul
But the Moon moved on,
the birds sang their songs again
and souls were healed
The day the Sun disappeared
