A few days ago I shared drinks with an aunt. We agreed to meet in a 400 years old bar in the Jordaan district of our hometown of Amsterdam:

The Noorderkerk was built around 1600 to accomodate the growing number of (mostly Protestant) people of Amsteredam

Ten minutes before I started the half hour walk (big advantage of Amsterdam: the city is very compact) it was still raining but the sky had cleared and I could take some pictures of clouds hovering over the canals:

Have always been intrigued by this building with its tower at Westerstraat, one of the streets that once was a canal. In 1861 the Anjeliersgracht got paved closed and received its current name.

This piece of prose I recently found in my notes:

Afloat (a #poem)

Sailing together

from different harbours

going on a journey

with no set destination

Taken by different currents,

drifting apart

without the power

to get together again.

But it's okay

and enough

to know the other ship

is still afloat
