Thanks to this tiny local park, we can always find some rest from the hustle and bustle from Amsterdam:
See that traffic light, just about in the center of belove picture? It marks the crossing of a major street called 'Overtoom'. It's featured in an ancient children's song

telling children lying is not nice. In the time when it was still a small river that marked the border between the city and the farmlands on the other side.
I like my hometown by night time as well:
Here's a more modern part. Some 15 years young, dwarfing the church (erected in the seventies, I think. To accomodate newcomers from Indonesia and Surinam when those countries stopped being colonies. But of course still were exploited. The Dutch are known [colonialists] 'clever businessmen') in the back of which one can hardly make out the tower anymore.
Is where you live being modernized or does your environment still have a lot of monumental buildings?

This week's poem is for the children of the world
Unconscious (a #poem)
My heart weeps
for the children lost
in war and peace
in famine and prosperity,
in ignorance and knowing
in fighting and in hoping.
Their choices have been stolen
their voices left and frozen
Crying without tears
living with only fears
Waiting for the bombs to drop
wishing for the pain to stop
We should be their conscience
not act like we're unconscious
