A few days ago I was in wonderful Zeist to get better acquainted with my new agent/manager. Where lucky me not only saw this church called - don't ask me why - Waltart,

but also found out my new friend is a great cook.

As chairman of the local residents' committee sometimes you have a meeting with delegates from housing companies, the local police and the municipality. With a bit of luck that task brings you to parts of the city you seldom come:

and past one of the best public libraries in the west part of Amsterdam:

The city is about twice as old as the USA as a sovereign country and basically build on a swamp so of course old buildings sometimes need to be taken down before they topple over and actually hurt people and make place for new (appartment)buildings that hopefully last more than a few decades. 

Same street. On the left the appartments are over a hundred years old; on the right less than a decade. Renewal - although sometimes sad - is the only way to move forward. 

Where are those old Roman contruction engineers when you need them, eh? Some of their 3000 years old buildings are still standing today!

Except for those

who think it's not

Putting on a cap

or glasses, covering yourself

in symbols meant to ward of evil

never offered protection

from inside bigotry and misunderstanding

Therefore they are ruled by fear

although anyone not influenced by influencers

knows:

"Kill Climate Deniers" is a stage play, not a call to action

If you make money robbing the Earth of its natural resources and thereby the planet unlivable, you have an incentive to cry about 'eco-terrorists!'. Those unfamiliar with right wing lingo: it's their term for people who care about other living beings besides themselves.

If you're a stay at home dad, a teacher, a hocky mom, punch in numbers at some lawyer's office...why would you spend entire days and nights trying to debunk established scientific results while hating empathic people?

Oil multinational Shell - once Dutch but after the Brexit thanks to a lucrative tax deal with the UK government British - recently won its appeal case so the radical right Dutch government won't ask Shell to cut its carbon emmissions 'because Shell is not sole responsible for climate change'. As if you refuse to arrest a gang of bike thieves 'because they are not the only bike thieves and some bike owners should be less careless."

Shell itself in 1991 made a shocking video on the terrible consequences of our dependency of fossil fuels and its own role in more disasters, food- and water shortages, the killing of animals, the mass exodus of people not being able to live in large parts of the world:

Shocked by the findings of their own scientists, Shell - together with Bayer - set up a climate deniers international media campaign.

And it worked: Shell and its buddies in the 'let's ruin the planet for some profit' industry got millions of people to believe climate scientists are wrong. And to believe in a near future with millions of refugees and having to change our diet. Unfortunately with that last bit they are right. David Finnigan explains:
