Sometimes I miss walking the streets of Rotherham. Coming out of the pub late at night to find out it had snowed, putting up the collar of my jacket, breathing in the coolness of the night air, hands in pockets. Like Hugh Grant in the final scene of some feelgood movie.
Almost every day walking the same half hour route to the theatre where I worked,
often having lunch in the town centre where the Rotherham Minster towers over the people. The church was founded in 937 and built in the 1400s. So it's old.
On my final day I walked past the theatre that was my home for that time. To say goodbye and thank you to some of the crew that had worked tirelessly to help the actors put up a wonderful show. While others were sleeping in and packing or had already left for home, the theatre crew members were clearing out the set pieces and what not. They don't get enough credit.

Inspired by my stay and last day of working and living in Rotherham and the people I met there, I wrote this piece:
Feelgood Movie (a piece of #stoetry)
Time to say goodbye, not farewell
One last laugh, one last hug
and one last pint
In the snow one last walk home,
carrying her in his heart
that felt light
He put up his collar,
his hands in his pockets
and a smile on his face
Walking alone
but not lonely
Feeling like Hugh Grant
in the final scene
of a feelgood movie
