It's been a while (nine years?) and I miss the Skywatch community. In the meantime I started weekly posting a short story or a poem. "So why not do both?" I asked myself. And here I am.
How 're all you lovelies doing in your parts of the world?

The other day I took my aunt to the opera. The 'Stopera' (City Hall ('Stadhuis') and Opera house in one) is on the right hand side of this picture. In the background it's Amsterdam's Mint Tower. I Think.
When I took an out-of-town friend on a tour of Amsterdam, we passed this piece of architecture. It could have been designed by Dudok but I'm not sure.
From a bridge connecting Kinkerstraat with Elandsgracht, one could think: "Amsterdam is a compact city? No way!" Here it all seems a bit more wide and spatial. Under this car park there used to be a rather dark, gloomy unused space. Perfect for finding used needles and other attributes used by 'the colour locale'.
Until the city decided to give a 'horeca' (hotel/cafe/restaurant) permit to an entrepeneur. Who turned the place into a hotspot for expats and young urban locals. Called 'De Waterkant' ('The Waterfront'), it's now a nice place to watch the boats go by and get inspired to write lovely songs about even lovelier ladies who live near the water and are half-crazy and called Suzanne.
And/or to meet with your fresh Tinder date. 😉

Something in the way
the man talked
made him think
she merely feigned interest
and probably just
wanted to go back
to her drink
and
the conversation
