The other day I visited a friend who lives in a part of Amsterdam

where I don't come often: Amsterdam-North. By some older inhabitants not really considered a part of the city, the area is at the other side of the body of water called 'IJ'.

This is the neighbourhood where my friend lives:

Since a couple of years it's easier to get there since there's now a metro station:

It's quite pretty, actually

but I'm more a 'big city' person so I prefer the inner city and am always happy when I see this view from Amsterdam Central Station:

Do you like the big city or are you more in favour of more rural areas?

This week's piece of prose was inspired by the current world situation:

Protected by the Stars (a #poem)

The sinners rule the world

and the ones supposed to protect us

are the ones we need to fear

While insults are hurled

we are distracted by fuss

and screaming is all we hear

But we are safe in eachother's arms

and we can't be hurt

protected by the stars
