Summer has landed in Amsterdam. Really hard. Despite claims of people who believe every single word uttered by lobbyists paid (click. Warning: disturbing) by companies like Shell, Bayer and ExxonMobil, climate change is going too fast and is an actual big problem with millions being displaced and people actually dying from heat. Even in the country that used to be known as 'overall quite chilly', The Netherlands.
So I'm happy to live next to a canal for some sweet coolness.
Above you see it in evening-mode and under this sentence you can see what the same spot looks like in the morning:
Especially at places with hardly any greenery it was pretty hot.
As a late, dear friend said upon seeing a picture of Carrie Fisher's stunt double in the famous golden bikini, set on the planet Tatooine: "Bloody hot!"
The heat situation wasn't much better on the rooftop of a Freemason's building in nearby Amstelveen:
The city is 'future proofing' a couple of main streets. Leading to detours of course and some other minor inconveniences but it will be worth it: better drainage systems, more greenery, less car parking and more bike parking spots and - hopefully - better public transport.
Do you have a decent public transport system where you live?
This piece of prose was written after some abuse a trans friend suffered:

God made us male or female so you can't be trans.
Okay. Get out of your car. NOW!
Because if that's the argument you're going with, you have to walk.

And if you meant what you said, you should go by foot or on horseback;
if God had intended us to drive, He would have given us wheels instead of feet.
