Walking home after a nice evening, I passed two places that have some meaning in my life. Like this street corner. Apparently this (the appartment above the toy store) is where we lived when I was around a year old. 

Behind this gate was the hospital where I was born. Things changed a bit since 1967.

That night I stayed with a friend. In a room on the top floor. So I can treat you to a picture of one of those infamous, typical for Amsterdam, beams-with-a-hook. 

Still used these days to hoist up furniture that's too big to carry through the narrow staircases. Which are so narrow because housing taxes at the time were calculated on how wide a building was.

The hoisting system is why many buildings down town are slightly tilted forward: to prevent the new piano, washing machine or sofa from breaking the windows. 

Really enjoyed the view the next morning:

Amsterdam trams are a nice way to advertise and help keep the costs of public transport reasonable. This tram was advertising for a Banksy exhibition.

As I occasionally do, the other day I woke up with the full text of this week's prose in my head. 

I only recently learned that doesn't happen to everyone.

From the Sun (a #ShortStory)

First thing he noticed 

when a headache woke him

was that he was awake.

Grabbing the ladder 

to climb down from his bed,

he noticed something missing:

the ring finger from his left hand.

It wasn't really missing 

but it shouldn't be lying on the floor,

not attached to his hand.

For later concern.

Before waking up the crew

and have them open the pods,

he first wanted to determine 

if they had succeeded.

After his kind had ruined 

their home planet,

they had recruited the best,

the brightest and the wealthiest 

to try again at a nearby planet.

This one was chosen 

for several reasons.

One of it being very compatible 

because it was 

the third one 

from the Sun

When did you choose to be straight?

Early nineties I worked for a local branch of the Dutch equal rights organisation for gay people. In the sense of 'homosexual', not as in the meaning of 'happy'. In the days 'the community' did not entail half the alphabet. We only knew gay, straight, bisexual. It was even before lesbians apparently weren't considered homosexual anymore and politicians as well as the press started to say 'lesbians and homosexuals'. 

I helped them to strive for equal rights. So we had a party to celebrate the fact that clubs got fined for throwing out homosexual couples for dancing. We cheered and I quit when homosexual men and women finally got the right to marry someone of the same sex. 

It's a common misconsception that because I worked for an organisation supporting gay rights, therefore I must be gay. Weird, really. 

Do people think you have to be a woman to support women's rights, a slave to want slaves to be free, over 65 to work in an old folks home or a light bulb to work for Philips?

According to this dumb right logic that you can't have an opinion on zionism if you're not Jewish or have to be black to support the BLM movement, they are all a small puddle of dirty oil because they support Shell and Exxon Mobil.

It's impossible to have a normal, adult conversation with wappies, so you have to ask them really simple questions their tiny brains can handle. Like: When did you choose to become straight?

"Yeah, but you suddenly see a lot more of those people and it scares me!" Why? Because other groups of people finally get the same rights as you have, doesn't mean those rights are taken away from you. 

Terrified a gay or trans person may hurt your child? Better warn them for Republican congressmen calling themselves 'christian'. Like Justin Eichhorn. "Yeah, but he was just an expection! Christians would never solicit a minor or sexually assault someone! Let alone when they're married." Nope. There's also Mark Foley, Robert Bauman, Pete Hegseth, Donald Trump...the list of sexually abusive christian Republicans is long. Really, really long. 

I don't care that Lindsey Graham is gay and known to male sexworkers as Lady G. I do care he wants to make life miserable for those who chose to come out of the closet and don't want to hide their feelings. 

"Yeah, but homosexuality is wrong because it says so in the Bible!"

If you really follow the Bible - as you claim to do - how many Evangelicals and politicians have you executed for misquoting a Bible verse? After all: the Bible clearly states: "Anyone who speaks a lie in the name of the Lord must be put to death". 

At least the worldwide average IQ would rise if everyone stating homosexuals go to hell 'because that's in the Bible!' would really get executed as the Bible says they should. 

Do you think: "Every homosexual goes to hell!" is in the Bible? Name Chapter and Verse. If not, you're lying and should be put to death. Zechariah 13:3.

"Thy shalt not be homosexual" is not in the Ten Commandments. Adultery is and so is lying, stealing, worshipping of idols... Which makes me think: If evangelicals worship Jesus (or Trump for that matter) they are actually doing something that's against God's wishes as He published in those stone tablets.

Gender fluid and homosexual people have always existed. But had to hide in the elderly MAGA woman's days. Because of her bigotry, stupidity and fear. Only since recently LHGBTQIA+ people are starting to feel safer showing who they are.

If bigots have the right to get married, why shouldn't homosexuals?
