Every SWF-picture published here is shot with my trusty Google Pixel 4a smartphone and unedited, unless stated otherwise.
It's been a while (nine years?) and I miss the Skywatch community. In the meantime I started weekly posting a short story or a poem. "So why not do both?" I asked myself. And here I am.
How 're all you lovelies doing in your parts of the world?
Since these days I'm working and living in Belgium, I didn't take any pictures of my hometown of Amsterdam, the Netherlands to show you. Hope you can forgive me and take solace in these pictures of Mechelen.
Beautiful centuries old buildings, right? Make that singular (e.i. 'century') because these buildings are basically replicas, built when the city centre of Mechelen got reconstructed after bombs in The Great War (at the time World War I was not called World War I yet) ended their actually old predecessors.
One of the 'real' old pieces that withstood the tests of time, is this statue of Neptune. Once part of a fountain (in 1718) it is also known as 'Vadderik', local slang for 'lazy fat man':

The little moments (a circle #poem)
The little moments
he missed most.
Like the way she ate.
He had never witnessed anyone
eat so beautifully
and more than once
wished to be her dinner
Or at least the sunset
that was allowed to watch
her through the window
that might have been older
than the beach side restaurant
where they once met
and agreed to always remember
the little moments
